For those who are new to my life drama, I offer a summary:
I am Shaman-In-Training, founder and solitary blogger of Shaman’s Antics: a blog about fulfillment, happiness and, sometimes, cookies.
I have lots of smarties! But not much dough…
My lack of dough is primarily because I have been homeless for over a month and a half now and I am fighting an uphill battle to end this situation. I chronicle my journey towards a home and stability because I think it is important to share with the world the truth about poverty.
Since I have become homeless, I have realized that my most stalwart supporters and my truest friends all live inside my computer! The people I have come to know though the medium of my blog and various social media have proven to me time and time again that they are the most loving and supportive people I could hope to have in my life. I am so grateful to them, and to you for being there for me.
You may not realize it but even so small an action as a tweet, a reblog or a post featuring the link to my blog is an extremely precious act of solidarity and support. That’s why I ask you to please share your favourites among my posts with everyone you can on every platform you use. People need people to overcome hurdles in their lives and since the Internet hasn’t let me down yet, I make this open request to you, dear visitor, to help me as much as you can.
I am running a campaign called Shaman Needs a Home to help me – Shaman! – get a home of my very own using the platform GoFundMe.
GoFundMe is currently the most popular personal crowdfunding website. It’s premise is simple: if there is something that you hold dear and for which you need to raise funding, you can. This platform has allowed people to access community support in order to do everything from pay off medical bills to tuition and much much more. Here’s how it works:
Someone (like me!) makes a campaign that they then share with their network (that’s you) and ask them for help. When you offer a donation, you can do so anonymously or openly. You can also offer as much or as little as you want as many times as you want. GoFundMe uses the same secure payment encryption technology that companies like PayPal and actual banks do to protect you when you’re doing online banking. They also never makes your payment information accessible to the person you’re sponsoring (that’s me!) so you don’t need to fear for your privacy. The company is really good at promptly answering questions. You can find their FAQ here if you need more information and if you email them during their opening hours, you’ll get an answer within literally five minutes.
On my GoFundMe page, you’ll be able to make a donation to help me get a home of my own. Every bit helps not matter how big or small. If you want to go a step above and beyond or if you have no money to give – trust me, I get how it is to literally have no money at all you can spare – please remember to share my blog. If everyone linked three people they know to http://www.shamansantics.wordpress.com, I’d have enough public support to be able to realize my dream of having a home within a month, way before the cold really sets in.
If you are not comfortable with using GoFundMe to make a donation, that’s okay! You can also make one using PayPal. If you want to sponsor me in a different way, be it by writing an article about me, inviting me to make a cameo appearance on your YouTube channel or even if you just want to follow me on Facebook, Twitter or other social media, you should reach out to me! I am a big fan of creative solutions and suggestions and super friendly. = )
If you want to leave some kind words behind, you are welcome to do so too! I greatly appreciate them so please fell free to go to my page of good things and better people and leave a positive comment! I read all of them with great excitement even if I don’t always have time to respond between foraging for human decency in cities full of isolated people and running around making ends that are way too far apart meet anyways.
Thank you for donating your time and interest.
I appreciate it enormously and will be sure to pay it forward.
